Wednesday Market on Pause in 2023

For fans of the mid-week market, thanks for your previous support!

We made the decision to put the Wednesday market on pause this year. In 2022 and 2021, the Wednesday market was located at the downtown waterfront Port of Bellingham property - near Kulshan Trackside Beer Garden. We do believe the Port of Bellingham space has a lot of potential! So, don’t count us out yet!

Prior to being at the Port space, the Wednesday market was at Barkley Village for one year in 2019 and multiple years at the Fairhaven Village Green. Despite changing locations, the mid-week market has had a difficult time being financially viable on its own - the Saturday market frequently supplanting the gaps.

Although we have had much enthusiasm for the Wednesday market over its 20 plus year history, this has not translated to the purchases we need to build the vibrant, bustling, and sustainable market we want to see.

The BFM mission is to: support local sustainable agriculture by connecting the public with local farmers, artisans, and other producers in an economically viable marketplace. We want to ensure that any market we organize, honors the hard work it takes for our vendors to make their products available.

If you want to see a future mid-week market succeed, keep shopping at the Saturday farmers market! And, if and when we do bring the mid-week market back, we hope you support it not just by liking a social media post, but by coming to the market! We’d love to see shopping bags filled to the brim with fresh, locally grown produce and goodies!

Thanks for all of your support, big and small!
