Growing Something NEW in September!

You asked and we heard! We are starting a new After Hours Market on Thursdays in September, downtown at Depot Market Square from 4pm-7pm!

This food focused market will feature local produce, meat, dairy and baked goods along with ready-to-eat food booths focusing on locally sourced menu items. This market will provide the perfect opportunity for grabbing groceries for dinner or stopping for a bite to eat.

Eat Local Month

We are proud to participate in Eat Local Month again this year! All of our food vendors will be featuring local menu items, throughout September, sourced directly from many of our growers and producers! In addition, we have the following great events scheduled:

It’s time for the Whatcom County Farm Tour! Head out with family and friends for a chance to see, taste and explore Whatcom County’s diverse family-owned farms, on this free, self-guided tour. We are one of the stops with over 20 local farms on-site. In addition, stop by our Demo Days booth, a collaboration between Sustainable Connections and BFM. Demo Days showcases simple ways to prepare seasonal produce, and helping answer questions for shoppers in preparing and storing fresh foods at home. We’ll be demoing how to cook, chop, prep, preserve and use tons of local and in season fruits and veggies. You can’t miss us in the booth right outside the covered market and next to the Info Booth or our big yellow sign. Stop by and grab a featured recipe card and ask us “How to use that!

Chef In the Market Saturday September 17th features Chef Justin Hawkinson, of Crave Catering, and Chef Josh Silverman. These chefs will pair up with local growers and producers to share some of their favorite seasonal dishes. Starting at 11, the Chef’s will do a few short demos every 1/2 hour, showcasing local ingredients, product from farmers at the market, and preparations techniques and tips. There will also be lots of samples!
