Liven up your local greens with these tasty and easy tips for making your own salad dressing from scratch

Things to have on hand
Oils & Fats
(Olive, Sesame, Mayo, Cream, Buttermilk, Canola, etc…)
Vinegars (Apple Cider Vinegar, White Wine, Balsamic, etc…)
Citrus: Lemons or Limes for tartness
Seasoning: Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Cayenne, Cumin, Etc.
Sweetners: Honey, Agave
Flavor Enhancers: Fresh or Dried Herbs, Soy Sauce,
Hot sauce, Mustard
Other Options: Tahini, Avocados, Grated Cheese

Ratios!  A good rule of thumb on ratios of liquids in salad dressing….
2 parts oil
1 part vinegar
½ part Citrus (lemon / lime juice)
¼ part sweet (sugar, honey, fruit juice)

It’s best to grab a big, wide mouth jar and make enough dressing to last for a week.

Honey Mustard Dressing

Combine all ingredients into a large jar or blender
2 cups olive oil
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 /2 cup lemon juice
¼ cup brown mustard
¼ cup honey
Add to taste: salt, pepper, garlic, hot sauce, dried basil

Using immersion blender, regular blender, or whisk – blend all ingredients together until they are smooth. Taste the dressing and modify it to suit you.

Tweak the salty, sweet, and tart elements until they are just right. If you go overboard on any one thing, you can always dilute the dressing with more oil or a little bit of water. Store in jar in refrigerator.  Shake before using.
